YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

RAVE-I/M, Inc. relies heavily on the time, talent and generosity given to us by volunteers.  We have a long
and rich history founded on volunteers & we salute those who have come before you and welcome you to
join our mission.

Individuals considering making the commitment to dedicate their time to RAVE-I/M, Inc. ask themselves
many questions.  We hope to provide you answers which encourage you to take the next step toward
making a difference in the lives of those around you.

“I want to help, but I don’t think I want to answer the crisis line”

  •      Volunteers are only trained and asked to do things they feel comfortable doing
  •      Opportunities are given to volunteers which can expand their level of commitment, but never
            forced or pressured
  •      Any volunteer or staff person answering the crisis line is trained accordingly
  •      Volunteer jobs which require contact with survivors or children require certain levels of
            training

“How much training do I have to take”?

  •      Hours of training depends on the interest of the volunteer
  •      Some volunteer job opportunities such as maintenance, yard care, office work or donation
organizer require minimal amounts of training – about 1 hour.
  •      Other volunteer job opportunities such as crisis line worker, volunteer shelter advocate,
children’s activity facilitator, or support group assistant require more extensive training –
           from 10 – 40 hours.

“What type of training do I get if I volunteer”?
Again this varies depending on the volunteer position, everyone is trained on RAVE-I/M, Inc. confidentiality policies
and procedures. Possible additional topics depending on the position may include:

  •      Understanding what services RAVE-I/M, Inc. offers
  •      Domestic violence myths & facts
  •      Dynamics of domestic violence
  •      Cycle of Violence
  •      Power & Control Wheel
