Residential Service Advocate
Position Summary:
Provides the delivery of quality residential services to adult and child clients residing in the safehouse. Duties include but are not limited to crisis intervention, client support, and personal advocacy. Second shift (3:00 pm - 11:00 pm) and third shift (11:00 pm - 7:00 am) opportunities available.

Position Summary:
Provides the delivery of quality residential services to adult and child clients residing in the safehouse. Duties include but are not limited to crisis intervention, client support, and personal advocacy. Second shift (3:00 pm - 11:00 pm) and third shift (11:00 pm - 7:00 am) opportunities available.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to 24-hour crisis line for domestic violence and sexual assault victims, provides crisis intervention to include empathy, support, information, and referral services.
- Maintain the safety and security of the shelter building and residents during peak times of activity within the shelter.
- Facilitate and encourage activity and communication between residents, which promote a warm, welcoming, and collaborative environment within the shelter.
- Assist and facilitate goal establishment and accomplishment with clients.
- Complete intake and exit forms and screening and assessment procedures with empathetic and active listening.
- Complete all record keeping requirements including documentation of observations and units of service provided.
- Complete daily charting and assigned documentation as outlined in Safehouse policies and procedures.
- Provide crisis intervention and prevention by building rapport with residents and interacting in a caring, consistent, empowering manner as outlined in the Program philosophy.
- Provide knowledge and information to residents about the dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault and its impact on victims, survivors, children, and communities.
- Provides information and referral services to all residents regarding RAVE’s services and other community resources and agencies.
- Promotes increased learning and teamwork to ensure clients receive quality services by attending and participating in case reviews and attending conferences and workshops as deemed appropriate by the supervisor.
- Maintain the order and cleanliness of the safehouse facility through supervision of clients and general household management.
- Participates in assigned community awareness activities which may or may not take place during regular business hours.
- Monitor and perform safety and security and maintenance policies and procedures.
- Work effectively implementing program policies and procedures while working alone and utilize on-call supervisory staff when necessary.
- Facilitate house meetings on a daily basis to discuss communal living issues and promote the empowerment of women.
- Participate in trainings and program meetings.
- Assist clients with accessing community-based services through information, referral, advocacy with housing, medical, transportation, and legal needs.
- Participates in the overall daily upkeep and cleanliness of all space within the sheltering facilities.
- Knowledge of domestic and sexual violence and its impact upon individuals, families, and communities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and express facts and ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, agencies, volunteers and clients.
- Excellent assessment and organizational skills.
- Must have ability to climb stairs several times during 8–10-hour shift.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs. of weight, i.e. client bags, bags/boxes of donations, supplies and small furniture.
- Must have ability to reach, bend, kneel, twist, and stand for periods of time during 8 – 10-hour shift. In order to perform such duties as vacuuming, sweeping mopping, dusting, scrubbing, laundry.
- Safely operate equipment including vacuum cleaner, computer, office machines, TTY machine.
- Ability to implement RAVE’s mission and philosophy in all program activities.
- Will successfully complete staff orientation and training.
- Must agree to and be able to participate fully in required pre and continuing employee screening and background checks, including areas of past and current employment, personal references, educational verification, criminal background, driving record and Central Registry Background or equivalent Clearance.
- Have working telephone, valid driver’s license, and reliable vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
- Prior domestic and sexual violence experience preferred.
- Must be committed to the concept of empowering women and children and be able to relate to women of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
